Created as a special States Burgers feature for America 250, this burger is not tied to one state. It is a national composite — part diner counter, part backyard cookout, part roadside stand, and part regional food map.

The Idea

Why this burger exists

The 50 state burgers celebrate local identity. The America 250 Burger celebrates the bigger table: the shared food culture that runs through diners, ballparks, cookouts, lunch counters, highways, county fairs, and neighborhood grills.

It is designed to feel familiar but symbolic — a burger that borrows from multiple American food traditions without belonging entirely to any single one.

Build

Ingredients

  • 80/20 ground beef
  • sharp cheddar cheese
  • toasted potato roll
  • barbecue onion jam
  • dill pickles
  • shredded iceberg lettuce
  • thin tomato slices
  • crispy potato sticks
  • America sauce

Method

Steps

  1. Form beef into a loose patty and season generously.
  2. Sear on a hot griddle until deeply browned.
  3. Add sharp cheddar and let it melt over the patty.
  4. Toast the potato roll until lightly golden.
  5. Spread America sauce on both sides of the bun.
  6. Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, and the cheeseburger patty.
  7. Top with barbecue onion jam and crispy potato sticks.
  8. Close the burger and serve immediately.

Mix mayonnaise, yellow mustard, ketchup, pickle brine, smoked paprika, black pepper, and a small spoonful of barbecue sauce. The result should taste creamy, tangy, smoky, and familiar.
